Users of Google Toolbar will notice a neat little update called ‘Sidewiki’.

Sidewiki allows you to comment and to view comments the users of the web make on any website. That’s right, people could be commenting on your website so you need to make sure it’s good and that you police it!

It’s yet another way to comment and gather feedback. You can comment on a site, comment on comments about the site, share the comments about the site to the usuals (twitter, facebook etc), vote on the usefulness of a comment and if you need to, report abuse.

A nice little feature is that you can highlight part of a page and comment on that part. If you have a Google profile (you should) you will automatically log comments under your profile. You can even link your comments to your Blogger Blog if you have one (you should!)

If you update your Google Toolbar and click Sidewiki you will see I have commented on this page!

Hopefully the comments on sites will be useful and not degrade into some of the trash we see on YouTube.
