FeedDemon is a desktop RSS feed reader brought to us by the folks over at Newsgator. The same guys that brought us Netnewswire which I reviewed yesterday.

As with Netnewsire FeedDemon now syncs with Google Reader and will automatically sync your  feeds, items tags and shared items.

So why would you consider using a desktop rather than using Googel Reader online? Well they both have their uses but FeedDemon 3.0 is useful as a Twitter Client.

It can convert short URLs into original links, the hashtags in tweets are automatically converted in smart hyperlinks and you can also reply to particular tweet via FeedDemon. The best part is that you subscribe to password-protected Twitter Timeline feeds in FeedDemon and this is something you cannot do in Google Reader.

As with Netnewswire, FeedDom is ad supported but for a small fee of $10 the premium version can be purchased and get rid of those pesky ads.
