Netnewswire 2.0 – Iphone edition

netnewswireLast night the long awaited second version of one of my favourite Iphone Apps was sent to me. For about 3 weeks I had been checking my app udates hoping to see “Updates 1 – netnewswire” – that’s how much I loved edition 1.0. I couldn’t wait to see the improvements of this little gem which was now set to sync with the marvellous Gooogle Reader.

Update done, and starting to sync… it’s pulling down all my folders just as I have them layed out in Google Reader. Great. Oh no! Ads…please no. Back onto the App store to my delight I find Netnewswire Premium for £1.19. Great now no ads now and although the ads aren’t massively intrusive it’s worth every penny for the discerning news reader and blogger to upgrade.

But what extra functions will it have? Will I be able to send to Twitter, comment, share, send to facebook and other networks?

Still a bit of work to go but I can now send to Twitter and can still star posts and send to Instapaper. Facebook and other send to functionality isn’t there yet so in the meantime I will star my favourites when on the move and then share, comment etc when back on Google Reader by simply going into my starred items folder.

8/10. Bravo netnewwire team. Netnewswire is in my top 10 apps and I would love to see them add more functionality in future releases. RSS realtime news is very much here and this is a big step for Iphone and Ipod Touch users.
